IN THE WINGS

Adriana Lima had the honour of wearing the $5 million Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra designed by jeweller Martin Katz at Victoria's Secret fashion show in Miami Beach. It is decorated with white and black diamonds and rubies, and will be for sale in the company's catalogue. "I always wanted to wear the Fantasy Bra. It's the first time that Victoria's Secret makes a black diamond bra," Lima said. The show will air on CBS on Dec. 3 at 10 p.m.

ELTON JOINS THE DANCE

Elton John joined the cast of Billy Elliott the Musical at the opening on Broadway in New York last week. Sir Elton wrote the music for the show, which is based on the 2000 movie that follows a young boy struggling to become a ballet dancer.

KEYS TO CHARITY

Alicia Keys hosted her fifth annual Black Ball in New York recently which benefits Keep A Child Alive, an AIDS organization. Queen Latifah, Keys' costar in The Secret Life of Bees, was honoured for her humanitarian work.

Beyonce as Bond girl?

Beyonce Knowles would love to be a Bond girl alongside Daniel Craig, who reprises his role as the British spy in Quantum of Solace.

The 27-year-old beauty said: "Until recently, I had never really got the same buzz from doing films as singing, but when I did my last film, Cadillac Records, I felt the same out-of-body experience as I get onstage, but onscreen.

"I want to do movies that are emotional. I do get scared and nervous about acting, but I know it's just growing pains, and I can get stronger through doing new films."

Cadillac Records is set for release on Dec. 5.

Eva's winning butt

Eva Mendes says her butt wins people Oscars. The 28-year old actress has joked her shapely rear was behind Denzel Washington's winning an Academy Award for Training Day, and she thinks she should get credit if her latest film, The Spirit, wins an Oscar.

Mendes, 28, said: "I don't do nudity just for the sake of it. I've only done it twice before and that was opposite Joaquin Phoenix and Denzel Washington."

Her behind also features prominently in a scene in The Spirit, though she says the director, Frank Miller, didn't tell her it would be in the shot.

"It was supposed to be in shadow. When I saw the scene, I was shocked. It was supposed to be a silhouette."

Mirren nixes motherhood

Dame Helen Mirren has never wanted children.

She told the Sunday Times Magazine, "I've never been hugely maternal, but I've always loved children as an aunt, a naughty aunt."

The star, 63, believes her desire to steer clear of motherhood stems from a traumatic video of a woman in labour she was shown at school when she was 13.

"It was horrific, and it gave me an absolute horror of childbirth."

Caine wins Variety award

Sir Michael Caine was awarded the Outstanding Contribution prize at the Variety Club's 56th Annual Showbusiness Awards.

The 75-year-old British actor, who was honoured for his five decades of film success, praised the event's organizers for their charity work.

"I've been working with Variety for around 30 years," he said. "I've been on many occasions to places where children were being interviewed and found it sometimes so harrowing I couldn't continue."

Al Pacino won the International Award, and James McAvoy received the Film Award.

Justin buys Jessica a pad

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are reportedly set to move in together after he purchased a $5.5-million apartment.

The 27-year-old singer is said to have bought a lavish residence in New York's exclusive Tribeca district, complete with high ceilings, wall-to-ceiling windows and an open-plan bedroom, and is keen to set up home with his 26-year-old girlfriend.

Still only 2 for Stiller

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor, don't plan to add to their family. The Tropic Thunder actor is happy raising Ella,6, and Quinlin, 3.

Stiller, 42, said: "Our kids are ridiculously cute, and every moment is a joy and a wonderful challenge that people who have kids can only understand."

Taylor, 37, added: "Two is enough for now." She said Ella and Quinlin enjoy playing with their friend Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, but are unaware of her famous folks.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson brought their star power to the reopening of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel on Friday. The celebrity-filled celebration, including Victoria's Secret fashion show, marks the reopening of the legendary hotel following a $5-billion renovation.

MESSENGER OF PEACE

Charlize Theron is now a UN Messenger of Peace with a special focus on ending violence against women. At yesterday's ceremony, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said she has used her "voice, compassion and special relationship with the public to create a better world." The actress's foundation, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, helps impoverished women and children in South Africa.
