No year-long Cruz

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem's relationship is reportedly on the rocks.

The actress, who has been dating Bardem since August, is said to be furious after Bardem broke their agreement to take a year-long sabbatical. "Penelope and Javier wanted to take a year off after Vicky Cristina Barcelona to concentrate on their romance and spend some quality time together," a source said. "But Javier couldn't resist the chance to star in Biutiful."

It was recently reported that Cruz was keen to adopt a baby from India with Bardem, according to her brother Eduardo.

"She admires Angelina Jolie and has always said she wants to do the same thing," Eduardo said.

Nicole and Joel's nuptials

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are planning to marry on their daughter's first birthday. The couple welcomed Harlow into the world on Jan. 11.

"Nicole and Joel are doing this to seal their love legally," a friend of the pair said.

Richie and Madden are planning to sell pictures of the ceremony to a magazine and donate any money they make from their special day to charity. "They've spoken about giving any money they get for photos of their wedding to Beyond Shelter, a homeless charity in Los Angeles that they work with," the friend said.

Brit's eternal sadness

Britney Spears has revealed Kevin Federline ended their marriage.

"I didn't think my husband was gonna leave me," said Spears, who revealed her sadness that Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, can't enjoy a traditional upbringing.

The 26-year-old star, who enjoys three visits a week with the boys, told Rolling Stone magazine: "To be a really good mom, I feel your child needs to be your full-time job. I want to raise my kids and share all of those precious moments with them.

"If Kevin hadn't left, I'd be with my babies 24/7. But since they're almost like twins, they both take care of each other."

No diss of Ms Mills

Sir Paul McCartney has denied writing a song about ex-wife Heather Mills.

Nothing Too Much, Just Out Of Sight, on his new album Electric Arguments with side project The Fireman, was widely believed to be about the former model McCartney divorced earlier this year. Lyrics include: "I remember you well/Oh woman betrayed you/I couldn't resist you/When I made you."

However, McCartney insists people are reading too much into the song. "I didn't have anyone in mind. There was an African guy called Jimmy Scott who I used to meet in nightclubs in London during the '60s.

"He was the guy who said to me, 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, life goes on' and the other thing he used to say was, 'Nothing too much man, just out of sight.' I always thought that it was a great thing to say, so it was really Jimmy."

By George, it was tough

George Clooney's ex-girlfriend says dating the star was "nerve-racking and stressful." Sarah Larson split from Clooney earlier this year after an almost year-long relationship, but says she felt extremely self-conscious whenever they went out in public.

"It was a little nerve-racking because you know, everybody loves George, and so, to be in the public eye like that, it was a little bit stressful."

Larson refused to comment on who instigated the split, but said it happened "quickly," and the pair are no longer in touch.
