GRIMSBY – Niagara police have arrested an internet fraudster who tried to pull the same scam twice in one day.

Police said a victim notified them in Vineland Saturday he’d arranged to buy an Xbox 360 computer gaming system from someone who advertised it on the popular website kijijii for cash.

The victim arranged to meet the seller and exchanged the money for a weighty  Xbox container. The seller left and when the victim opened the box, he found it was filled with old books.

Police turned to the web and found the same advertisement posted by the same seller on kijijii. Investigators contacted the seller and arranged to meet.

The seller was arrested when he showed up. He is charged with fraud under $5,000. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the suspect cannot be identified.
