A 47-year-old man was sent to hospital Tuesday after being attacked with a fishing knife in front of the central police station.

Police say a city couple was approached by a man outside the King William Street station and a confrontation occurred.

The suspect, who was known to the victim, took out a knife and slashed the man in the face. The man's wife raced into the police station for help while the attacker fled.

The victim was taken to the hospital for non-threatening injuries and released soon after.

Police are now looking for 34-year-old James Moore of Hamilton. He is wanted for assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon.

Hamilton police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call investigators at 905-546-3833.
