The Hamilton Spectator regularly receives many requests for support
from a multitude of people and organizations. Community Partnerships is
the process through which we review requests for in-kind advertising,
item donations, cash donations, auditorium bookings and the Summer Camp
Fund to support or strengthen community initiatives. As much as we
would love to sustain every event within the community, we are simply
unable to and therefore we request that all interested parties take the
time to complete the new on-line application process as a way to
determine if your initiative fits with our overall corporate goals and
objectives.

Tours at The Hamilton Spectator
The Hamilton Spectator’s focus for Community Partnerships will continue to be oriented around three main themes:
• Poverty
• Literacy
• Youth at risk
We appreciate the opportunity to review event sponsorship, marketing
and partnership opportunities available in the Burlington, Hamilton,
Flamborough, Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek and surrounding
communities. Our marketing activity is planned far in advance and we do
ask partners to approach us with requests for sponsorships a minimum of
three months prior to the event.
With our focus and priorities on poverty, literacy and youth at risk, The Hamilton Spectator will not ordinarily support:
1. Individuals (or requests that directly benefit one person).
2. Programs or initiatives that take place outside of the readership area of The Hamilton Spectator.
3. Golf tournaments.
4. Amateur sports teams or leagues.
5. Organizations that are not open to any member of the community.
6. Political organizations or entities.
How to Apply
1. Click on the Community Partnership On-Line Application site below.
2. You can print a hard copy of your submission by clicking on the Print Form button BEFORE you make your electronic submission.
3. Complete all sections of the application form and make the
submission. It will be reviewed and you will have an answer within
three weeks.
4. You will receive an email acknowledgement of your submission by the end of the following day.
5. Once we have had a chance to review your submission, we will
either contact you to discuss the request and conditions of sponsorship
or you will receive a decline notice from us.
6. Please note that due to the high volume of requests that The
Hamilton Spectator receives every day for community partnerships, only
those that have been submitted through the website will be considered.

Summer Camp Fund Partnership Opportunities
Through The Hamilton Spectator Summer Camp Fund, local underprivileged
children are given the opportunity to attend a fun-filled week at
summer camp and overcome some of the daily challenges they face in
their lives. By providing these youth opportunities, our community will
flourish and be stronger for it. Each year, this fund assists more than
1,000 children in Burlington and Hamilton who are living at risk and
close to or below the poverty line.
The Summer Camp Fund is an important corporate charity of The Hamilton Spectator and our charity of choice to support.
We are always looking for new corporate or charitable partners to help
us raise funds through your special event. The Hamilton Spectator will
consider donating the ad space to profile and promote your event should
it be approved for partnership. If you have any questions, donations,
opportunities or sponsorship requests, please contact Jane Allison
through email jallison@thespec.com, phone 905-526-3221 or by fax to 905-526-2470.
For Item Donation or Prize Requests:
The Hamilton Spectator will consider supplying merchandise to local
organizations looking to raise money for worthwhile charities, which
are oriented to causes that mirror our corporate focus of poverty,
literacy and youth at risk. Please use the Community Partnership
On-line Application to submit these requests.
Booking Requests for The Hamilton Spectator Auditorium:
One of the ways we offer support for our community is through the use
of The Hamilton Spectator Auditorium. The Auditorium is offered as a
good will gesture to community groups and Spectator business partners.
Community groups and Spectator business partners can book the
Auditorium. Please review the auditorium guidelines below to determine
if you are able to book the Auditorium.
In order to confirm your date, set-up requirements and that your event
needs meet our guidelines, the accompanied booking sheet must be
completely filled out within a minimum of 30 days prior to the booking
date. Failure to meet this requirement may result in cancellation of
your booking. Although we make effort to confirm your booking, internal
bookings do take precedence, regardless of how far in advance you have
booked. Should you get bumped we would make every effort to contact you
as soon as possible.
