(Dec 12, 2007) Teenagers are inventive when it comes to fashion. While designers and fashion experts once viewed them as rude creatures, they now see them as inspiration. When fashion types claim "an influence straight from the street," it means teens wear it so it must be cool.
Whether your teen is straight edged or edgy, plenty of options offer impressive presents this holiday season. Hoodies have just the right mix of casual and smart and parkas and bomber jackets have reached previously uncharted heights of fashionability.
Prada did them in bronze and Zac Posen cropped them. Hooded sweaters made it onto the runway at D&G in pale shades of grey and cream.
The grunge look of the '90s is seen on teen faves Mischa Barton and Kate Bosworth. At the same time, magazines such as Teen Vogue have made a glamorous impression. Skinny jeans and hoodies may be piled on the floor but the closet will boast at least one skirt or dress.
Layering continues to be an important trend. Why wear one warm topper when you can pile on the layers and peel off and forget a piece of clothing at every stop through the day? I suppose part of being a teenager is being allowed to make your own mistakes.
