I have a crush on velvet. I love the nap and the colour variations when it is rubbed the wrong way.

Velvet is always a Christmas favourite for its warmth and luxuriousness.

But velvet isn't simply for dressing up -- you'll find it in wide and slim trousers, skirts that go anywhere and blazers to wear with something satiny so they don't look mumsy.

Velvet scarves are chic and can pull together a dull outfit. If you can find a pair of velvet Mary Janes, you will be wearing them into the next decade.

Soft velvet will last for years and Boxing Day sales could be a good hunting ground. Crush worthy.
