How about some face time with a new watch? Few pieces of jewellery so beautifully mix function and style.

A watch can last a lifetime and become an heirloom or it can be the accessory of the moment.

A trio of trends arrives this spring: decorative with pretty detailing, sporty or masculine with chunky straps and larger faces.

A bracelet or bangle strap is ideal with a soft blouse, wrap dress or evening wear. Sporty styles work with safari dresses, chunky cardigans and jeans. And you can get down to business in a skirt suit and watch with a masculine vibe.

Men's styles have been downsized for women and are a statement in themselves. Watches for dressy occasions up may have crystals surrounded with diamonds and a bejewelled strap and clasp.

For fun and functional timepieces, Swatch offers plastic straps with a dragon-printed Olympic Collection and an art motif Urban Adventures collection. Time out.
