(Feb 26, 2008) Putting on a fresh face for spring is a challenge after a long winter. Here are a few ways to freshen up.
Olay, Total Effects, Anti-Aging Cleanser, $9.99 for 192 mL
Antiaging is a buzzword in skin care and what better place to put the red light on lines than your cleansing routine? This cleanser cleans away dirt and makeup gently without drying. Skin is primed for moisturizer but not parched. It is available at drugstores and grocery stores.
Sense Rice Bran Polisher, $21 for 75 mL
A skin saviour with dual action: it whisks away dead skin cells and grime and stimulates the circulation. The skin-polishing and soothing effects of the facial massage makes the polisher desirable, and addictive. It leaves skin glowing and clean but not squeaky. It is available at Young Scissors, 1104 Fennell Ave. E.
Lancome, L.U.C.I. Eyes Compact, $47 for 2 g
At first glance, the colour looks too bright but is not as intense when applied. The colour -- it comes in blue, green and apricot -- can be worn alone or layered with the white. Chic packaging is clamshell-shaped with a mirror and pearl to make you feel like a sea goddess. It is available at department stores.
Yardley Of London, English Lavender Perfumed Talc, $16.99 for 200 g
A quick dusting of this silky talc will transport you to fields of gorgeous lavender and memories of your grandmother. The scent is subtle and the packaging is ready for the vanity. The old fashioned tin flask houses a very fine powder that glides onto the skin and holds its fragrance through the day. It is available at Shoppers Drug Mart.
