Good old Ed Stewart sent along a treasure chest of black and white photos of people and places from the old North End, circa 1943 to '44.

Friend Ed also sent along an array of colour photos of the group of oldsters who attended this year's North End Reunion held at LaSalle Park in July.

Included is a picture of a lithograph, For Valour, with photos of North End war heroes on it, which is given at the annual reunion to the North Ender of the Year.

This year's recipient, Jim Davies, is shown with CHML radio host and city councillor Bob Bratina, who presented the award.

Golly, it's great to recall the names and faces of the young guys in the old pictures of the early '40s.

Names like Wilf Worley, Pete Woods, Ed Stubbs, Bob Lawton, Harry Barnard, Billy Stade, Stan and Vic Sawyer, Verdi Gough, the Gibb boys and others.

If you're an old, old North Ender, you'd get a kick out of the picture of Ed Stewart, with his mom and dad, all dressed up to have their picture taken in old Eastwood Park, with the huge armed forces buildings in the background near the bayshore.

Like old Ed Stewart says in his letter accompanying the pictures: "While the heroes pictured in the For Valour litho were fighting, all that was left of the North End guys was us kids, and we hung out together." Thanks a million, Ed.
