Like to try your burgers a little on the exotic side, but you could use some inspiration? Pick up some pointers from these unique burgers in Britain, as noted by the magazine This Is London:

* Gourmet Burger Kitchen: Burgers range from the classic to unusual combos such as the Kiwi burger, which adds beetroot, egg, pineapple and cheese. The Classic 100 per cent Aberdeen Angus Beef is $11.

* At Black & Blue chain steak houses, options include the classic plus more adventurous burgers such as guacamole, foie gras and even a veggie burger. The Classic burger costs $18.

* Boxwood Cafe: Veal and foie gras burger, lettuce, Parmesan, chips, $45.

* Eagle Bar Diner: Burgers include the Oz (kangaroo and red wine) the Intshe (ostrich and cranberry) and the Bok (venison and red wine). Each $13.

* Sketch: Simmental beef, minced steak with roast foie gras, Sketchup and Bearnaise sauces, Pont Neuf potatoes, $38.

Not to be outdone:

* Father's Office in Santa Monica, California: The patty is composed of dry-aged sirloin mixed with New York strip ends topped with applewood-smoked bacon compote. It is topped with blue and Gruyere cheeses, caramelized onions, and arugula on a French roll.

* Nice Matin, New York City: The Five Napkin Burger (so named because of its juices) consists of 10 ounces of beef, sauteed onions, cheese and aioli ($15.75)
