TORONTO (Sep 5, 2008) With a bevy of stars coming to the Toronto International Film Festival to show off their work on the big screen, style-watchers have their sights fixed on the red carpet to see what the celebs will be wearing.
Awards season begins soon afterwards, and the stars' attire at the festival may offer a glimpse of what's to come at glitzy events looming on the Hollywood and style calendars, including the Golden Globes and Oscars.
Sandra Graham recently displayed outfits from the online auction site inspired by some of Hollywood's leading ladies, including Keira Knightley, who is slated to promote The Duchess during the festival.
Graham, eBay Canada style director who has outfitted Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon, paired a red trench coat, black dress and black hat with Knightley in mind.
She also showed off a long black, corseted dress inspired by Charlize Theron's black lace creation by John Galliano for Christian Dior worn to the 2006 Golden Globes.
The looks crafted with the actresses in mind encompass several trends Graham expects to see in the coming months.
Basic black is back and getting some company from such colours as purple, grey, sapphire blue and red in separates and footwear.
Graham said lace "from head to toe" is also among the must-haves.
"Anything you can do, a shoe, a headband, a blouse, a skirt, has to have a little bit of lace."
As for dresses, Graham said the slim, shift-type silhouette is in vogue, and the babydoll is making way for more structured pieces, like a pencil skirt.
As for the shoes, pointed toe pumps are a must-have. Graham suggests a leopard print or purple patent, or even trading the heel for a flat in a bold or metallic hue.
