THE BUDOS BAND is part of the Daptone Records retro collective out of New York. This 11-piece instrumental ensemble has a love for all things funk and afro-beat. Three of the band's members also crossover into The Dap-Kings, the band that backs Amy Winehouse when she's able to perform in North America. The Budos Band performs Saturday at the Pepper Jack Cafe, 38 King William St. $15 in advance; $12 at the door. 9:30 p.m.

NATIONAL PARCS: A Montreal trio of electro DJ freaks who mash sounds from the forests with dance beats and rhymes. Uber hip critics love them and the mix sounds good. The group's latest album, Parc Avenue, has made the shortlist of the $20,000 Polaris Prize for album of the year. National Parcs perform at the Casbah Lounge tomorrow. Doors open at 9 p.m. Licensed. 19 plus. Check myspace.com/nationalparcs.

CAROLE KING: She wrote some of the great hits of the early '60s and will always be remembered for her landmark debut album, Tapestry, and songs like Natural Woman, I Feel The Earth Move, So Far Away, It's Too Late and You've Got A Friend. King performs Sunday, 7:30 p.m., at the Avalon Theatre of the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. Tickets start at $90 through Ticketmaster or 1-877-833-3110.

BLACK SABBATH TRIBUTE: Support your women's roller derby while tipping your hat to Ozzy and the boys. Local hard rock bands such as Porcelain Youth and Adder perform an evening of Black Sabbath songs Saturday at the Casbah, 306 King St. W., with all proceeds going to support the Hamilton Roller Girls. So what's your favourite Sab song? Paranoid? Iron Man? Sweet Leaf? Doors open at 9:30 p.m. Licensed. All ages. $5.

DARCY HEPNER ORCHESTRA: You may have noticed a jazz revival happening here. Blame it on Darcy Hepner, who returned to the Hammer after performing with Blood Sweat & Tears. He has put together a phenomenal 16-piece jazz orchestra and you can see them perform Sunday, 7 p.m., in a free outdoor concert at Ancaster's Fieldcote Museum bandshell (64 Sulphur Springs Rd.). Vocalist Carol McCartney, above, is a guest.
