A reader wants to know how long she can keep cake and pancake mixes, and whether or not she can freeze them.

The dry mixes can indeed be frozen, but it doesn't extend their shelf life by very much. Unopened cake and pancake mixes are typically good for about 10 months to a year in the cupboard or freezer.
