BERLIN - Berlin police say that they are investigating a suspicious package found at the hotel where U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is staying.

Police spokesman Bernhard Schodrowski says that the Hotel Adlon was closed off Thursday while police specialists checked the package.

It was unclear whether Obama was in the building at the time.

Obama arrived in Berlin Thursday morning and met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at her office.
